May 2008
May 20. Product Announcement: Magnetorquer Rod BISHOPS STROTFORD (UK) - Satellite Services ltd. has a new product in its line of ADCS Actuators; the Magnetorqer Rod. With this rod, it is possible to control the attitude of a spacecraft several ways. The Magnetorquer Rod has flight heritage on the BADR-B,Gedsat and MicroLabSat Missions. The attitude of a spacecraft can either be controlled directly trough interaction with the magnetic field of the Earth. It is also possible to use the Magnetorquers in combination with reaction wheels. This creates a system which dumps excess momentum in the wheels, without the need for a complex propulsion system. The use of the Rod enables the system to use less power. Next to this, the system is less susceptible to magnetic torque variations caused by temperature. Click here to view the datasheet of the Torquer Rod. If you have any questions regarding this product, please feel free to contact us.
